This was one of my first trips to a studio while traveling and I went with a bit of hesitation, especially now that I am pregnant. The studio far exceeded expectations.
On the 4th floor of a downtown complex, the studio was a short walk from the tram. It had two levels. The practice room was on the second level, which consisted of mostly windows overlooking the black sea. The teacher opened some windows to allow the sea breeze to filter in.
Morning Mysore practice is relatively new in Istanbul, only happening for a few months now. In total about 5 of us filtered in to practice.
The teacher had a very attentive approach, providing several adjustments, and ensuring that students really got the most out of the practice. Since there were so few of us, this meant we each individually got a lot of attention. The warmth of the studio, the room, and the sun rising against the sea breeze made for a very memorable and healing practice.
